Each year, approximately 6000 children are directly assisted through the Society's Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) initiative, which emphasizes the use of locally available resources, active involvement of parents and family members and rehabilitation with the home environment. The Society believe that every child with a disability is a child first, unique in their abilities and their potential, and equal in their rights to live, get educated, stay healthy, protected, enjoy recreational facilities & of course rehabilitation. The staff/members at USRI are motivated by the Salamanca Framework, UNCRPD Declaration, and National Policy for the Disabled, 2006.

Coverage
The Society operates in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh including Allahabad, Chitrakoot, Varanasi, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jhansi, Jounpur, Kanpur, Lucknow etc. focusing on the educational, social and medical rehabilitation of children with disabilities.
